The Gift of Stress in Tough Economic Times

By Dr. Darren Weissman for www.InfiniteLoveandGratitude.com

Wherever you turn these days, it's hard to escape the news dominating the headlines: escalating food costs, roller coaster gasoline prices, stock market uncertainty, global banking crisis, financial stress, Presidential politics...Everyone is feeling stressed!

Believe it or not, these stressful times are actually a gift -- an opportunity for you to reconnect to your limitless potential to thrive no matter what the circumstances.

Why Stress Is A Gift

For those of you who have read The Power of Infinite Love & Gratitude, or those of you taking my Book Club Teleclass, you are already familiar with the philosophy of The LifeLine TechniqueTM.

You already know that stress is a symptom, and symptoms are the language of your subconscious mind.

Symptoms communicate that a part of your body or a part of your life is out of balance. Whether it is physical or emotional symptom, when "unwrapped," these gifts provide us with the most extraordinary opportunity of our lives.

Over the past few weeks, many clients have come to my clinic, The Way to Optimal Health, with a host of symptoms. During the conversation, it is clear that they are experiencing the stress of the current economic and political turmoil.

I would like to share the story of Mary, one of my clients:

Mary, a 40-year-young woman, was experiencing insomnia and stomach pains. She also said that she was concerned about meeting all of her basic financial obligations, and worried that she may go deeper into debt.

During the session with The LifeLine TechniqueTM, Mary's subconscious mind took her on a fascinating journey to a time early in her childhood when her parents were experiencing financial challenges.

In an environment where there was a lot of anger, confusion and fear, no one felt safe or secure.

She recalled that her father paced day and night and yelled at her mother about the family's finances.

Between the ages of four and five, the seed was planted in Mary's life of how to cope with stress. But now, at the age of 40, the stomach pains and insomnia were the catalyst for Mary to awaken not only to that memory, but also to the realization that she had the ability to choose a different response to her financial situation.

Understanding the Root Cause of Symptoms

At the end of the session, Mary had a new view about the symptoms of insomnia and stomach pains.

In fact, these symptoms were signals from past experiences, stored in her subconscious mind.

Realizing this, Mary awakened consciously to her potential to change her attitude and take positive action, such as reducing her expenses so that she could increase her savings.

As she left my office, Mary said she never knew that understanding the true source of the distress could actually feel liberating.

"I know I'm going to sleep like a rock tonight" she said.

Symptoms - The Key to Liberation

Symptoms are the key to healing because they are the LINK to your subconscious mind.

Your conscious mind represents between two and five percent of your awareness -- such as being aware that we are aware. It's where we are capable of making choices despite our circumstances.

The other 95 to 98 percent is your subconscious mind.

Your subconscious mind is reactionary -- there is no choice or judgment. It will respond the same way every time it is activated. The subconscious is where experiences that are too painful, scary, and challenging to handle are stored.

Research by Paul MacLean, M.D., who is considered to be one of the world's leading brain scientists, has found that the subconscious mind can "hijack" the conscious mind when it needs to.

The subconscious mind is focused on survival, which depends on avoidance of pain.

We know from Mary's experience that anytime you perceive something to be threatening (or bad), you instinctively want to disconnect from that experience.

When this happens, your subconscious mind takes over to protect you from the threatening situation...hijacking your conscious perception of that experience.

In other words, the pain, fear or challenge is still there, but it's hidden below your consciousness. However, it is still perceived by the subconscious aspect of your mind-body.

This is where symptoms come in. They are your body's way of telling you that it's time to reconnect with those parts of yourself that you might otherwise not have known were there.

Symptoms are only expressed as a means to inform you that you have all of the conscious tools, strategies, and support to move through the experiences you are facing.

They are your body and life's own personal bio-feedback mechanism!

Symptoms are your body's way of expressing the need for reconnection through stressful situations, after stressful situations, such as addictions, phobias, panic attacks, compromised immune system, and any other form of stress are your body's and life's way of expressing the need for reconnection. They are the small or big "nudges" that your body gives you so that you can awaken and heal.

On my own journey to healing, I awakened to The LifeLine TechniqueTM, which is the roadmap of the subconscious mind.

With The LifeLine TechniqueTM, you are able to reconnect to and balance emotions suppressed on a subconscious level; you are empowered to tap into your true potential as a self-healing organism, so you can thrive.

No matter what type of stressful situation you face, no matter what type of pain or illness you are experiencing, I want to remind you that YOU have the power to be healthy, happy and whole.

Open the gift of symptoms and let the healing begin.
